Siesta Key is an eight-mile tropical barrier island off the coast of Sarasota, on the Gulf of Mexico, graced
by
one of the world's most beautiful white sand sunset beaches. The
sand, a fine white powder that is 99% quartz crystal,
always stays cool under your feet even when the sun is at
its peak! It is said that our sand has magical healing powers
-
so be sure to take a barefoot walk! A popular "laid-back"
vacation destination,
there are no golf courses
or big hotels on our island.
The nearest airport is Sarasota (SRQ, 12 miles).
Flights are more frequent and sometimes
less costly into Tampa (TPA,
65 miles).
Workshop Location: The Intimacy Retreat is held in the "Siesta
Village" area, where you can enjoy the beach, shop in boutiques,
and dine on continental cuisine or at local beach bars. The overall atmosphere is very casual. For the
exact
location of the workshop, see Map.
Below are lodging suggestions that vary in price
and location. Rates listed do not include tax and are subject to change or error.
In most cases, you
contact the hotel directly to make your room reservation and
to confirm availability and cancellation policy. Always
ask for their best rate. NOTE: Siesta Key is a destination resort
with limited hotel rooms. MAKE RESERVATIONS AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE.
Those listed below in the first group are in Siesta Village, walking
distance from the beach and workshop space. Those in the second group are also on the island,
a short drive from the Village.
The third group
lists both luxury hotel and economical motel locations nearby
in Sarasota (not on Siesta Key).

The Tropical Breeze Resort is a short walk from the workshop space, the beach,
shops and restaurants. Facilities include tropical gardens, a Day Spa, fitness center, pools and outdoor hot tubs.
There
are a variety of room types, including a "honeymoon suite" and beachfront
apartments. Some units require a 3-night stay. Rates through
1/14/09 (excluding holidays) are: Rooms, $99/night
(#116, #117 and #119 are quite small but others are OK). Studio efficiencies $109, small one-bedroom suites $119
and large one-bedroom suites at $139 are an excellent value.
Jan.15- April 30 rates start at $189. Ask for an upgraded unit and if any special discounts
are available.

This is a nice, basic motel right
across
from the beach, walking distance from workshop, restaurants,
etc. Low on ambience, great on location! Rooms with a jacuzzi
have been updated. Rates through 12/20/08, are $124/night
for standard room with one-person jacuzzi tub; $149 for
an efficiency suite and $169 for a one-bedroom suite, both
of which have a 2-person jacuzzi tub. Standard rooms are
$94/night. Rates 12/20 to 1/20 start at $119. January 20
through April 20, rates start at $164. NOTE: If no rooms are available,
contact us. We may have one reserved for your weekend.

In the center of Siesta Village, the charming Sunsets on the Key is one block from the beach, with a new
pool and spa area. Rates through 12/15/08 start at $149/night
for a studio apt. A one bedroom is $179 and a small 1 bdrm
is $169. From Dec. 16 through April 30, rates start at $229.A three-night minimum may apply.

Beach Palms is in Siesta Village, directly across from the beach. Low Season
rates through 12/15/08 start at $195/night for a cottage
and $225/night for a beach suite. December 15 through mid-May,

This small, quiet, charming, resort (with Ralph Lauren sheets!) is 4.5 miles
south of Siesta Village, on a serene tropical lagoon. Some rooms have a water
view. Rates are discounted for Intimacy Retreat attendees. Through Dec. 15,
rates start at $107/night. Dec. 15-Jan. 30, $152. Feb.
1-April 30, $242. Ask if they are running any specials over and
above our discounted rates. Note: If you will be driving
straight to the workshop space on Friday, be sure to ask about late check-in
procedure.

Located three miles south of Siesta Village, two blocks from the south end of
the beach. Tropical Shores and its less-expensive sister resort, Tropical Sun,
offer clean, updated rooms and efficiency units. Tropical Shores units are larger, closer to the beach and
have a more landscaped ambience. Our discounted rate for an efficency suite
through 1/31/08 is $129/night at Tropical Shores and
$119 at Tropical Sun. The standard room at Tropical Sun
is $89/night. From Feb. 1-April 24, rates start at $169.
These rates are 10% less than the listed AAA

the Palm Bay Club beachfront condo resort has tennis courts
and heated pools. Gulf view one bedroom apartments through
12/14/08 are $180/night, Gulf Front $205/night. Rates in

and April. There is a three-night minimum. Speak to Tammy
